The Vineyard Hotel - 4 Star

HISTORIC LUXURY AT THE VINEYARD HOTEL IN A STANDARD COURTYARD ROOM STARTING FROM ONLY R 1195 PER PERSON SHARING PER NIGHT

Originally built by Lady Anne Barnard in 1799, the Vineyard Hotel & Spa has been converted into a

unique world class hotel, situated in six acres of attractive landscaped parkland on the banks of the historic Liesbeek River overlooking the forested slopes of Table Mountain. The Vineyard Hotel & Spa and all staff are committed to the greening of the hotel by taking action to recycle, manage and minimise waste production, use environmentally friendly products and reduce our energy requirements.

The Hotel

Situated in the lush leafy suburb of Newlands, with spectacular views of the western slopes of

Table Mountain, this deluxe hotel is one of the finest in the Cape. It has two restaurants, a gift and an antique shop in the main reception area, a health and fitness centre with two heated swimming pools and a state-of-the-art gymnasium. The Vineyard Shop and the Splash Café are situated next to the large outdoor pool. Alongside is the award-winning conference centre and the internationally renowned Angsana Spa – a first in Cape Town, South Africa. Since 1980 the well known landscape architect Anne Sutton has set about re-designing the six acres of garden, based on the theme of water gardens and features. It has developed into one of the most beautiful landscaped gardens in the Western Cape.

All of the 175 rooms are carefully furnished to satisfy the needs of our guests. Dressing gowns, tea and coffee making facilities, safes, mini-bars, remote controlled satellite colour TV and free high-speed internet access are a few of the amenities guaranteeing comfort. Rooms range from single to family suites, both mountain and courtyard facing, to the exquisitely appointed junior suites, overlooking the Liesbeek River or beautiful gardens, both with the backdrop of Table Mountain.

The Square

This magnificent glass roofed restaurant with its tall leafy trees towering over guests towards the skylights has a wonderful relaxing ambience. It is well-known for its scrumptious breakfasts and lunches, while dinner is often accompanied by gentle music blending with the relaxing sound of water from the fountains. Platinum Award Winner for its wine list in the 2008 Diners Club Awards.

An outstanding sushi bar complements this special offering. Breakfasts and light lunches are also served on the Garden Patio.

Myoga Restaurant

Independently operated by Mike Bassett, the brain-child of Cape Town’s award winning ‘Ginja’ Restaurant, Myoga - meaning ginger blossom in Japanese - is open for lunch and dinner. It offers a menu focusing on contemporary global fusion cuisine. The decor has been carefully created to ensure an ambience that is welcoming and relaxed. Dinner is à la carte and for lunch, expect to find a mezze-styled table offering platters influenced by the East and Mediterranean.

Closed on Sundays.

Myoga restaurant selected for “Condé Nast Travellers Hot List of 2008”, only one of four restaurants in Africa & the Middle East to make this list. Platinum Award Winner for its wine list in the 2008 Diners Club Awards.

Angsana Spa

Situated alongside the banks of the Liesbeek River, this speciality spa is operated by the international Banyan Tree Spa Group and staffed with highly trained therapists from the East. Angsana Spa, with its

refreshing blend of spa therapies, embraces the contemporary, holistic and non-clinical tropical garden spa concept, with a high touch, low tech approach and the use of fresh botanicals and aromatherapy as  the cornerstone of its therapies.

Overlooking the serene secluded spa garden and views of Table Mountain, the spa comprises 11 treatment rooms, including 5 single rooms, 3 double rooms, 2 deluxe double rooms and a rainmist room.

Health and Fitness Centre

Officially opened in 2004, the health and fitness centre offers up-to-date cardiovascular as well as resistance training equipment, a heated indoor swimming pool and a beautiful outdoor swimming pool, loungers, umbrellas and manicured gardens, with uninterrupted mountain views. Light meals and health drinks can be enjoyed at the Splash Café, whilst the Vineyard Shop offers an exciting range of African clothing and gifts.
