Tsala Treetop Lodge - 5 Star

Emulating the monumental ruins of an ancient central African civilisation, the impressive stone-masonry entrance flanked by water features leads into a magnificent foyer supported by polished Blackwood columns.

The afro-baroque décor with its earthy colours, rich textures and handcrafted fittings draws inspiration from the diverse cultures of Africa, yet remains integrated with the sophistication of the Western world. Whether from the exotically appointed dining room, the intimate glassed-in lounge, or the large open decks high above the forest floor, the views are all breathtakingly beautiful, encompassing lush forests extending across rolling valleys towards distant hills.
Elevated wooden walkways meander through the trees providing easy access between the main lodge and guest suites. Experience the restful tranquility of the forest while our discreet staff provides impeccable and personalised service.

The main restaurant building along the end of the walkway leads to the voluminous reception area, an inspirational viewpoint on arrival at the lodge, with the forest as the backdrop. The lounge area has become a firm favourite among the guests while enjoying a pre – cocktail drink relaxing with a book from the library or while checking e mails through the Wi fi facility located in this area. An outside deck invitingly lures the guests to peek at the cavorting Knysna Loeries, known to be very elusive.

Dine al fresco style on the deck overlooking the forest where lunches and group dinners with friends can be served during good weather conditions and if you wish you may choose your own local and international wines from our world – renowned underground wine cellar.

Tsala has complimentary Wi-Fi in all public areas

Tucked into the forest canopy, 10 luxury hide-away suites are the epitome of opulent indulgence and romanticism.

Constructed of stone, wood and glass these ultimate of abodes comprise a sumptuous bedroom, an elegant sitting room with fireplace, and a spacious bathroom fit for royalty. Extending into the forest is a private deck for dining al fresco, and as if in emphasis of your privacy and seclusion each suite has its own infinity pool, seemingly suspended by the very air itself.
An exciting new venture was launched to the Hunter hotels portfolio this year with the addition of 6 contemporary designed, luxury, two bedroom villas.

Built in the high above the forest floor to complement the style and architecture of the widely acclaimed Tsala Treetop Lodge.

The Treetop Villas, are fully furnished, equipped with a kitchenette facility, expansive lounge area, private deck overlooking the forest, plunge pool with private deck and loungers, air conditioning, TV and DVD with surround sound and also offering serviced mini – bar and daily housekeeping.

The double bedrooms are of equal size and appointment, each with luxurious bathroom, separate toilet, indoor and inter – leading outside “moon” shower on a private deck overlooking the pristine indigenous forest.

Highly acclaimed, Tsala’s restaurant serves delicately prepared and exquisitely presented dishes of both local and exotic flavours, accompanied by a wide selection of the best South African Estate and Auction wines from the private cellar.
Relaxed and affordable with distinctive international flavours, ZINZI Restaurant offers abundant and tasty menu options in a beautiful  forest setting.

Apart from the African inspiration seen in the architecture and manifested in the use of the natural materials in the building, there is a global tribal inspiration drawn from the beautiful carving and metalwork of India and the patterns of the tribal Suzani textiles.

Subtle texture forms the canvas on the walls- with subtle contrasts brought in by the combination of the stone masonry, raw scratch plaster, rough neutral earthcote and waxed plaster that has the feel of old smooth leather.

Handmade mud chandeliers preside in the interior– with the clay balls brought to life by the subtle sparkle of crystal. The fabrics- raw textured natural fibers- in combinations of wheat, stone, ebony and slate colours forms the foundation, hand printed Suzani fabrics, worn leather and soft suede, fun Lizard print silver fabrics bring a sense of fun and “now” and luscious velvets  a sense of opulence, with a shot of silver leather for luxury.

The furniture is all custom made - all slightly oversized as comfort is key at ZINZI. Whether sitting around a low table on ottomans and cushions sharing a meze platter or on a wingback chair at and antique table with turned legs and a pewter chandelier - absolute relaxation is guaranteed.

The tables provide for ample space, with fabulous dishes beautifully displayed during each course. Uniquely designed cutlery curiously hidden in a cloth bag and beautiful glassware add to the imaginative dining experience.
Ideal for sundowners at the bar, or for a relaxed dining experience, ZINZI embraces the spirit of honest cuisine and zesty ingredients with a choice selection of a la carte menu items.
