Zambia Tourist information

The tourist areas in Zambia are far apart and very contrasting, which makes Zambia an incredibly diverse destination. Flights from Johannesburg fly directly into both Lusaka and Livingstone. From there, all the major tourist areas can be accessed. We have divided Zambia into two sections: Livingstone and Lower Zambezi Valley.

All hotels and lodges in the Livingstone area are a short road transfer to / from Livingstone airport. They can also be easily accessed from Victoria Falls. (Please note that a visa may be required to cross the border)

The Lower Zambezi Valley is accessed by flying into Lusaka, followed by a light aircraft transfer into the valley. The air transfer takes the passengers directly to the lodges.

Location:

South central Africa. Zambia is bordered by Zimbabwe to the south, Malawi and Mozambique to the east, Angola to the west, DRC and Sudan to the north.

Area: 752 614 sq kms (290 586 sq miles)
Capital: Lusaka (south central)
Language: English and over 73 tribal dialects.
Time: GMT +2

Tourist attractions:

The Victoria Falls
Lower Zambezi Valley
Luangwa National Parks
Kafue National Park
Business centre: Lusaka

Health:

Zambia is a malaria area - please consult your doctor or pharmacist

This all depends on which part of Zambia you will be visiting. If you are going to the Livingstone side, you may want to see the Falls in full flood (February - June) or for white water rafting the conditions are much better when the river is lower through the remainder of the year. The Zambian side of the Falls is dry for the later few months of the year.

The Lower Zambezi is very seasonal. This is due to the remoteness of the lodges. This region is closed in the wet season (Nov - May) due to inaccessibility. The months that remain open will offer very pleasant mild weather with little chance of rain at all. The evenings and early mornings may be cool so please make sure that appropriate clothing is taken.
