Altes Landhaus' country lodge is a stately Cape Dutch style homestead, cradled in the fertile Schoemanshoek valley of South Africa's Little Karoo. Lovingly furnished with tasteful Victorian antiques, Altes Landhaus combines historic charm and a tranquil, African country atmosphere to offer splendid accommodation in country comfort.

The homestead's magnificent gardens are evidence of a climate which boasts 360 sunshine days a year: an abundance of red and white rose blooms, soft lilac Jacaranda blossoms and old, shady trees frame a plush expanse of well-tended lawns.

Summer hues, fragrant scents and the dry, hot Karoo air provide an intoxicating backdrop for the clear turqouise waters of our salt-water swimming pool, tucked away in a tranquil corner of the homestead's garden, and featuring a friendly pool bar.

Leisurely walks around the scenic grounds of Altes Landhaus provide many an opportunity to admire the indigenous birdlife, or the farm's own ostriches. The idyllic charms of the Garden Route - sandy beaches, leafy forests, golfing greens and scenic mountain passes - provide a diverse choice of exciting day outings.

A relaxing day concludes with sunset drinks on the African patio, as dusk folds its colourful wings around another varied and enjoyable day.
