Kilanguni Serena Lodge
This lodge is worth a trip because of its magnificent setting in the heart of Tsavo West National Park with views of the Chyulu Hills and the snowy peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro. First built in 1962, Kilaguni was the first luxury lodge in Kenya. The main lodge building is newly rebuilt and inviting with tall thatch roof and one whole side open to the view and a waterhole which attracts large numbers of zebra, buffalo, elephant, impala, baboon and warthog. Beyond the rustic reception area, the dining room and bar/lounge share the open-sided view. The 53 guest rooms are simply furnished and have full private bathrooms. Each room’s veranda overlooks the waterhole and Mount Kilimanjaro.
