Little Governors Camp
Getting there is half the fun. First, you cross the Mara River in a little
boat pulled along a fixed rope by the boatman. Then you climb steep steps cut
into the bank and walk down a shady forest path. Suddenly you step out into an open glade:
Seventeen tents curved around the edge of a marsh, looking toward the plains and high escarpment
of the Mara. In a word, spectacular! There is something about this camp that is very friendly,
yet private. Guests seem to enjoy mingling with the staff and with each other, and because of the
smallness of the camp, you really feel special. Little Governors, with its open views and no fences,
makes it possible to be very close to wildlife.
Breakfast and lunch are served buffet-style outside under tall trees with views over the marsh and towards distant ridges.
Candelit dinners are served in the cozy dining tent. In this setting it feels natural to combine the elegance of silver,
crystal and linen with canvas, safari chairs and lanterns. After dinning, guests like to sit quietly around the camp fire -
liquers, stories and stars.
