Longonot Ranch House - Lake Navaisha
Only 65 miles from Nairobi lies a private ranch of 80 000 acres. This vast area offers variety, from open plains to deep and breathtaking gorges, from rocky lava flows to Euphorbia outcrops, lending itself to walking and horse riding safaris in the true pioneering spirit. Travelling in this way you are on even terms with the game - a unique and wonderful experience. Amongst the many species of game which roam freely over this area, as they have since time immemorial, are eland, giraffe, zebra, impala, Thomsonıs and Grantıs gazelle and kongoni. Buffalo are also found on the ranch, as well as cheetah, leopard, civet and genet cats, aardvark, hyena, jackal, spring hare and bat- eared fox.
Longonot is a colonial style ranch house with 6 en-suite bedrooms and a honeymoon suite all with spectacular views of the Rift Valley and surrounding mountains. The house is fully furnished with a full complement of house staff including a chef, stewards, gardeners and a night watchman. Escorted walking and horse riding are available and visitors are encouraged to hike and game view on foot on or horseback. The ranch is ideally situated for day trips to Lake Nakuru National Park, Mt Suswa caves, the Aberdare Range and Lake Naivasha, well known for its bird life, black bass fishing and water sports.
