Treetops
Treetops is perhaps the best known night-viewing lodge in Africa. Located just inside the gates to the Aberdares National Park, Treetops is raised on stilts and overlooks two waterholes and the magnificent peaks of Mount Kenya. On arrival there is an informative talk about the historical aspects (Princess Elizabeth was staying here when she became Queen) and natural history of the area. Thereafter your time is spent purely on wildlife observation - from the roof deck with open viewing in all directions, the lounge with its big picture windows or from a ground floor bunker. The standard rooms have shared bathroom facilities. Suites have their own bathroom. The possibility of seeing wild animals up close has drawn thousands over the last 55 years to create the Treetops tradition. One overnight is generally the norm and overnight bags only are permitted. Your main luggage will remain at The Outpost, the starting point for all Treetops guests.
