Northern Mozambique is one of the World's last remaining unspoiled destinations.
These beautiful Quirimba Islands are remote and the ideal Honeymoon or romantic getaway !
Private Island Lodges, pristine white beaches, historical interest, and some of the world's best dive sites - Quirimba is a tropical paradise
Encompassing three provinces (Cabo Delgado, Niassa, and Nampula) with a total area of 280 000km2, Northern Mozambique is a nature-lover's paradise.
It is an untouched area dotted with majestic baobab trees and wild mangrove forests. (Six species of mangroves occur in Northern Mozambique alone.) And it offers unique species such as the dugong - the rare sea cow found along the coast.
One of the most biodiverse marine areas in the world is the Quirimbas Archipelago.
The Quirimbas Islands lie in the Indian Ocean off northeastern Mozambique, close to Pemba. The archipelago consists of about 27 islands, including Ibo, Matemo, Quirimba, Mejumbe, Vamizi and Rolas Island.
Originally home to fishing settlements, the islands' population grew around Arab trading posts and thrived under the Portuguese trading routes when it was known as the Ilhas de Sao Lazaro. Until today, many of the islands are uninhabitated.
