Jaci's Camp

Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the few reserves in southern Africa that is malaria free.

Located on the Botswana border 20 km from Gaberone, the reserve is a transition region between lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld.

As a result the region is host to an incredible diversity of species from both regions. Geographically the region has enormous volcanic intrusions known as Inselbergs, which are prominent throughout the reserve and are a spectacular backdrop to the reserve.

Jaci's Safari Lodge is situated on the banks of the renowned Groot Marico river in the eastern section of the reserve and has traversing rights over 75 000 hectares. With only 8 uniquely decorated suites, each with their own viewing deck, the lodge offers a very private experience. The thatched suites, with canvas "walls" which can be opened, allow the guest to experience a oneness with the bushveld.

Madikwe is home to both the black and white rhino, buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog and a wide variety of other African animals and birds. Jaci's is superb safari destination with well-trained and informative rangers who are able to explain and interpret the many encounters with wild animals and other creatures you will enjoy whilst on safari

About Madikwe Game Reserve

The establishment and development of the 60 000 ha Madikwe Game Reserve is, without doubt, the single biggest and most significant achievement of the North-West Parks Board.

The reserve was announced to the public in August 1991 and officially became part of the Board's estate.

Currently one of South Africa's largest game reserves, Madikwe has the distinction of being one of the few game reserves in the world to be proclaimed purely on the grounds of being the most appropriate and sustainable land use for an area.

Currently one of South Africa's largest game reserves, Madikwe has the distinction of being one of the few game reserves in the world to be proclaimed purely on the grounds of being the most appropriate and sustainable land use for an area The reserve consists of vast plains of open woodlands and grasslands, dissected by the rugged Rant van Tweedepoort, and bordered in the south by the Dwarsberg Mountains.

The area is dotted with huge rocky hills or inselbergs. The entire reserve has been enclosed in a 150 kilometres perimeter fence, which has been electrified to prevent the escape of elephants and the larger predators. A number of commercial safari companies operate within the reserve including Tau Game Lodge, Madikwe Game Lodge, Jaci's Safari Camp as well as a number of corporate or syndicated lodges. The reserve also has further commercial tenders open that should continue to develop the reserve.
