Hiking South AfricaSILVER CLASS TOUR Self Drive 6 days and 5 Nights
Day 1On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport you will be met by a Representative, handed your world-class documentation and assisted to the vehicle rental counter for the collection of your vehicle. From the airport enjoy a relaxed drive on the N3 toll route heading via Harrismith to Alpine Heath. Here you will be collected by Drifters for your transfer in a 4x 4 vehicle to Drifters Drakensberg. Spend the afternoon familiarising yourself with the mountain lodge situated on a 1 000 hectare farm. Approximate travel time: 3.5 Hours from Johannesburg International Airport to Alpine Heath Drifters Drakensberg - bed and breakfast basis Day 2 and 3These full days will be spent exploring this National Heritage Site. This area is home to a colony of the rare Cape Vulture and many other indigenous species including Eland, as well as lush indigenous forests, Bushmen paintings and dramatic waterfalls. The reserve provides excellent hiking and exploring opportunities. Drifters Drakensberg - bed and breakfast basis Day 4After breakfast and returning to Alpine Heath to collect your vehicle, your journey continues to Mulberry Hill Guest House, which is situated in the Natal Midlands, arriving in time for an early lunch. This afternoon you can enjoy pancakes at the famous Pancake house on the estate, which offers a wide selection of savoury and sweet pancakes together with a crisp glass of wine. The afternoon can be spent on a hike or walk on the estate. Other activities such as trout fishing or bird watching can also be enjoyed. Day 5Today you can explore the natural wonders of the Midlands Meander and nature reserves where shy creatures roam. Glance back in time at the various museums, and shop for a variety of treats, such as farm-fresh local produce, restored antiques, fluffy mohair clothing and leatherwear. Overnight Mulberry Hill Guest House - bed and breakfast basis Back to topDay 6Spend your last morning with a picnic breakfast on the estate before heading towards Durban International Airport. Return the rental vehicle to Europcar before the scheduled flight to Johannesburg (not included). Approximate travel time: 4.5 Hours from Mulberry Hill Guest House to Durban International Airport.
