Karama Lodge

Nestling in the upper forests of Suye Hill on the outskirts of Arusha, Karama Lodge consists of 15 log cabins with en suite facilities. Constructed on stilts and of local materials, each cabin has sensational views of Kilimanjaro, Mawenzi Peak, Mount Meru and the Maasai Steppes, from its private balcony. The open bar, with its huge, open sundeck, and the two-tier restaurant offer the same scenic views across the valley floor. A few years ago this area was a butterfly house, producing a wide range of pupae for export to butterfly houses around the world. Many varieties of these butterflies remain. The forests surrounding Karama Lodge are home to a wide variety of wildlife and birds.
