Two Oceans Aquarium – Victoria & Alfred Waterfront

The southern tip of the African continent is the meeting place of two mighty and bountiful oceans, the Indian and the Atlantic. The Two Oceans Aquarium on the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town is ideally positioned to showcase the incredible diversity of marine life found in these two oceans. The Aquarium is one of the top tourist attractions in Cape Town and over 3000 living sea animals, including sharks, fishes, turtles and penguins can be seen in this spectacular underwater nature reserve.

Afrisam Children's Centre at the Two Oceans Aquarium

The Afrisam Children's Centre allows children (and those who are young at heart!) to express their experiences of the Aquarium through drawing, painting and clay modelling. Daily puppet shows are a treat for everyone as Peter the Penguin invites you to participate in song and dance

The Afrisam Children's Play Centre buzzes with the excitement and energy of children as they are entertained and informed through puppet shows featuring delightful sea creature hand puppets. Kids are also encouraged to create fishy artworks such as marine mobiles, fridge magnets and glitter cards to take home to their families

Oceans of Contrast - at the Two Oceans Aquarium

The Oceans of Contrast - Indian Ocean Gallery presents life from the warm Indian Ocean off South Africa's east coast. The gallery includes a beautiful live coral display and a tropical fishes exhibit showcasing the dazzling colours of Indian Ocean fishes.

A series of some thirty-two exhibits comprises the Oceans of Contrast - Atlantic Ocean Gallery which introduces some of the animals from beneath the waves of the cold Atlantic. Our volunteers at the Touch Pool and Microscope will provide you with fascinating snippets of ocean information whilst you experience close encounters with some weird and wonderful ocean creatures.

Sappi River Meander at the Two Oceans Aquarium

The Sappi River Meander Exhibit boasts a breeding colony of African penguins; rockhopper penguins; African black oystercatchers, and a wide selection of freshwater fishes, both indigenous and alien, to our Western Cape rivers.

Kelp Forest Exhibit at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Kelp forests are displayed in only two aquariums in the world - Monterey Bay Aquarium (USA) and the Two Oceans Aquarium (SA). Our Kelp Forest Exhibit houses three species of giant kelp, which provide shelter for an array of local fishes. This exhibit will change forever your perception of the decaying brown seaweed seen in jumbled masses along the Cape's beaches.

I&J Predator Exhibit at the Two Oceans Aquarium

The enormous 11m wide and 4m high window onto the I&J Predator Exhibit is the grande finale to a tour of the Aquarium. Other spectacular viewing points on this masterpiece include a semi-tunnel which hugs the perimeter of the tank. This affords close-up views of the inhabitants as they glide past overhead.

Frogs Beyond the Pond at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Frogs - Beyond the Pond is a themed and highly interactive gallery which we have created to raise awareness of the plight of frogs, to inform you on what you can do to create frog-friendly environments and to raise funds for the Amphibian Ark www.amphibianark.org. Jump in to find out more about these quirky yet threatened creatures.
