Kanondo Tree Camp
Hwange National Park - Accommodation
Kanondo is the place to meet elephants. Set in a private game reserve, bordering on Hwange National Park,
Kanondo is a small informal bush lodge. This is a place to get close to the wild, and where there is the
chance for an incredibly close encounter with the famous herd of "Presidential Elephants" which is resident in the Kanondo area.
Kanondo consists of six simple twin bedded tree houses built into the large trees that fringe Kanondo waterhole.
Each thatched tree house has a downstairs shower and upstairs toilet and wash basin and verandah.
Meals are taken in the central "boma" and are served around the campfire. There is a bar and a viewing platform.
The Kanondo underground hide, a sunken hide close to the waterhole, is a wonderful feature, which provides excellent
photographic opportunities of wildlife at close quarters.
Game to be seen on game drives include elephant, lion,
leopard, wild dog, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, sable and greater kudu as well as a variety of other antelope.
Night drives provide the opportunity to spot lesser-known
nocturnal species such as bush baby and spotted hyaena.
