Mukuyu Canoeing & Walking Trails
Mana Pools - Accommodation
The Mukuyu Canoeing & Walking Trails are 3 night/4 day safaris offering canoeing on the lower Zambezi river,
together with game drives and guided walks within the Mana Pools National Park. This is a luxury canoe safari
accompanied by a qualified Professional Guide.
All safaris are fully backed-up with their own camp cook and support staff who take clients' luggage and set up
camp ahead each day. The trail operates along the much sought-after stretch of the lower Zambezi river,
from the Ruckomechi river to Chikwenya, known as the Mana Pools shoreline.
All activities are therefore conducted within the Mana Pools National Park - a World Heritage area.
Accommodation is in spacious walk-in canvas tents with comfortable camp beds, mattress, sheets and blankets with
toilet en suite. A luggage rack and bedside table with a cold water flask, insect repellent, tissues and reading light
complete the tent furnishings. A basin stand and mirror with towel rail are to be found out front of each tent.
Hot bush showers are available at the end of each day. Meals are prepared each day by the camp cook who travels ahead,
together with back-up vehicles, luggage and general camp staff. A selection of cold drinks, cordials, bottled mineral water
and beer are available throughout the safari, as well as red and white wines being served at dinner.
Activities include guided walks with a licensed Professional Guide, game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles,
and canoeing. The guide carries a weapon and radio at all times. Canoeing - using extremely stable 18ft 6in
Canadian-style canoes fitted with comfortable bucket seats, seat cushions and optional lifejackets, you will enjoy a
unique experience as you paddle gently with the current, delighting in the spectacular scenery and approaching wildlife
up-close and in total silence. No previous canoeing experience is necessary - just an adventurous spirit and a dose of
enthusiasm. Walking - early mornings are the best time to set out from camp on foot, when the animal spoor is still fresh
from the activities of the night before. Game-drives - using an open 4 x 4 vehicle you are able to explore the many pans and
more distant areas of the Park away from the river.
Departure days are twice a week - Tuesdays and Saturdays.
