At a point where the broad valley narrows and turns, a grove of acacia and mangwe trees overlooks a waterhole. Here the herds of zebra come to drink on golden afternoons, bringing dust that hangs against the copper coloured horizon.

At night, black-maned lions pad across the drying grass as jackal wail mournfully at the stars. In the midday heat, elephants gather at the water's edge to slake gargantuan thirsts, whilst their tiny calves cavort and splash.

Set within the enchanted grove, the 11 tree houses of Sikumi provide accommodation to fulfil childhood fantasies.

In typical safari tradition, a nightly log fire draws guests to share their day's discoveries. Shady lawns and sparkling swimming pool are tempting at midday, while sumptuous meals, often served beneath the trees, cater for appetites whetted by an early start.
